Driving a prototype Arocs

Iep6During the introduction of the new Arocs in Germany i was able to drive a cammouflaged prototype with the new Powershift 3 transmission with Off-Road mode. The gearbox is shifting very fast and the trip learned me that the automated transmission can do almost everything in rough terrain. Almost, cause when it realy gets tough you need the Manual mode.

New Unimog and Econic, testing in the snow

MBTest (3)Just as we you thought Mercedes-Benz has no more news after the presentation of the Actros, Antos, Arocs and Atego here come the photo’s of the next Unimog and Econic trucks for Euro 6. Thinking about this all, we still have to wait for the bonneted Zetros and off course the new SLT heavy transport vehicle and the new Vito and Sprinter vans. So, there still is a lot comming from Stuttgart.

New Sprinter caught!

Spr4Now here are some interesting photo’s of the next Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, caught by Fedo Lapshin, working for the Russian magazine Autoreview. He claims he did not only make these photo’s, but he also drove these vans!

What we can see is that the Sprinter body is moslty the same as we know it, but the nose is going to be higher. That could give the Sprinter a more tough look than the sopisticated nose it has now. Probably there is a technical reason for the higher bonnet.

Thanks a lot for the material Fedor!

Crosswind assistant for new Mercedes Sprinter

SprinterLKSlrThe upcoming new Mercedes Sprinter van, will come with a whole army of assistant systems. All are safety related and come from the renowned Mercedes passenger car technology. However, Mercedes has developed a cross wind assistant which opoerates the ESP system in case of fierce crosswinds.

The system activates itself when the Sprinter moves faster than 80 km/h/50 mp/h. At this stage, no details about prices yet. Mercedes also helps the driver of the new Sprinter to ‘overlook’  the aera around the vehicle which is hardly visible with the aid of mirrors. So Mercedes has developed a radar system which helps again by avoiding your new Sprinter to get involved in a collision.

The new Mercedes Sprinter is set for introduction in June.
